silence. |

Location: side view, teacher's room Shudaizi is hiding
behind the teacher... whispering... what is he talking about? He is
doing Gao Lao Shi (Gao means to tell, Lao Shi
means teacher, Gao Lao Shi is to turn in one's
classmate to the teacher, or snitching). |

Location: bird's-eye view, teacher's room Yanghunzi drew a
funny picture of Shudaizi. Shudaizi is not happy with that. Gao Lao Shi
is an important way to settle disputes among students, because Lao Shi (the teacher)
has the final say on almost everything. In this case, what Lao Shi (the
teacher) cares about is not only what's on the picture, but also when the picture
was drawn. If the picture was drawn during class, Yanghunzi will be
considered not paying full attention to Lao Shi (the teacher), therefore he will
be subject to more severe discipline including self-criticism in front of the
entire class. If the picture was drawn after class, the whole thing will
be just a private matter between two naughty kids. At this point, the teacher
won't do anything, except knowing the two kids are not getting along, which situation
can be taken advantage of in the future. | | |
